Please revisit The Equus Effect site
for Summer and Fall 2008 Workshops
David has spent this past year focusing his efforts on working with prisoners suffering mental illness/substance abuse in Harlem, N.Y. and with psychiatric patients in lower Manhattan. In addition, David has traveled back to Epona to work with Linda Kohanov on the development of worldwide corporate leadership workshops. These experiences have served to inform the design and planning of future programs which are to be introduced in the near future.
And, for Horse and Rider -- The Power of Two
(Fall 2008 dates TBA -- see below for description)
This intensive four-day Equine Facilitated Experiential Learning (EFEL) workshop is designed for any level of rider seeking to improve the quality of their riding experience. By opening your heart to the wisdom of the horse, you will form a deeper connection to, and enhance the partnership with your horse. The connection with your horse improves as you rely on your inner wisdom and insight to know what both you and your horse need. The intuition of horses is their primary resource for survival; they are fantastic teachers when we can slow down and learn on horse time.
The techniques used in this workshop are based on the principal of consensual leadership. The rider looks within herself to be sure of her state of mind, body, and emotion in the present moment, and then looks to the horse for the natural reflection of this insight. Horses are able to reflect what their instinct dictates regarding their rider’s well being and current state. As many experts say, “horses don’t lie”. We learn to look to our horse for our own reflection and thereby learn to rely on our own instincts to give us the truth to move forward. It is a unique opportunity for you to achieve insight into the world of horses and your relationship with them.
Horses are magnificent mirrors to their human partner’s state of being. Developing awareness/acceptance of inner knowing and responding to the truth as shown by the horse will soften any edges created by uncomfortable goals set without true connection with the horse.
For this workshop, we have assembled a unique staff that includes three Epona-approved instructors as well as massage therapists for both people and horses. The goal is to allow you to come to your own insight and strength regarding the relationship you have and desire to have with your horse.
The Power of Two workshop is based on the Epona Method as taught by Linda Kohanov and Kathleen Barry Ingram and includes the basic workshop of The Way of the Horse. Completion of this workshop enables you to be considered for participation in advanced workshops at the Epona Center in Sonoita, Arizona.
ENROLLMENT IS LIMITED TO 12 PARTICIPANTS.
This program is not appropriate for stallions, mares with foal, or horses new to riding.
